“Our mission is to empower African children by, providing a nurturing home, accredited education, and sustainable resources to our orphaned and vulnerable children in our village in Jinja, Uganda. Rooted in faith and compassion, we strive to equip them with the tools to build a brighter future, breaking cycles of poverty through knowledge, nourishment, and spiritual guidance. About Us
Hello, my name is Steven Heckley. In 2018, I received a Divine appointment that led me to connect with Peter Mwesigwa, the founder of The Front Foundation Orphanage. At that time, Peter was struggling to provide even the most basic necessities for the orphanage. The surrounding village community was impoverished and lacked access to fundamental resources.
Since then, by God’s grace, we have made incredible progress. We purchased land and built a Christ-centered, accredited vegan school that now serves over 200 children from the orphanage and the surrounding area. Every child receives a daily vegan meal and an education from professional teachers and dedicated volunteers.
For years, our orphanage faced housing insecurity due to unstable rental conditions and financial constraints. But today, we have built a beautiful, permanent home for our 43 orphan children. Shortly after the home was completed, we installed a fresh water system and secured direct electricity, further improving their quality of life.
I am just a regular man—I never imagined that God would choose me to lead this mission. I am not wealthy, yet somehow, through faith and determination, I have been able to finance over 90% of our capital growth, as well as the operational expenses. But as our orphanage and school continue to grow, they have surpassed my financial capacity. I believe God is calling others to be part of this incredible blessing.
If you have ever wanted to make a direct impact on the lives of children and an entire community, I can testify that there is no greater joy. We have very few supporters—most give modest donations, as they are able. Without them, I truly do not know how we would continue. Because of bureaucratic barriers, we receive no organizational, government, or charitable support.
Front Foundation Uganda is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through education and empowerment. We work closely with local partners to ensure that our programs are effective and impactful, focusing on areas such as literacy, vocational training, and health education.
